TRAINING CAMP FOR TRIATHLETES & CYCLISTS WITH A CYCLE FOCUS
A GREAT OPPORTUNITY TO BUILD YOUR CYCLING STRENGTH & ENDURANCE AFTER THE WINTER AND BEFORE THE START OF THE RACING SEASON, IN STUNNING AND CHALLENGING SURROUNDINGS
WHEN NOT ON THE BIKES YOU WILL GO FOR A SEA SWIM OR TWO, A COUPLE OF RUNS, AND OPTIONAL POOL SWIMMING - tbh there is not a lot of time left after the bike and stretching and mobilising, but Sandra is happy to have a 1-1 coached swim session with anyone who wants one
The cycling terrain is challenging and spectacular with regular 3-5k climbs over 4-7% on average, with a few 9 & 10% bumps along the way, then amazing sweeping descents. The perfect place to develop or improve your climbing strength and endurance plus your descending skills. And don't be fooled by the shallower climbs, they are relentless........ for this reason we do need you to be a regular rider at home and able to cope with long hilly rides. In 2023 we'll be offering short and long rides every day but they are all challenging.
We have the luxury of 4 ride leaders which means we can cater for different distances, speeds and personal preferences. We do our best to work around what our athletes want.... and you can move between groups during the week. We have added some even longer rides in 2023 and there will be an optional extra long ride up to 150k. Have a look at the cycle maps to see the options.
There is the possibility of renting an Ebike if you would like another option - but you still need to be able to ride as mentioned above. You will still be working hard on an ebike, just making the hills a little less painful!
We kick the week off as soon as you arrive with a sea swim and short flat run, before you even get to check in on Day 1.
Out of the following 6 days of training you will be on the bike for 5 rides - distances vary depending on experience and preference and there are always up to 4 groups going out. There are two longer days should you choose, and a 'rest' day which means a trip to the coast for a sea swim and our only flat run followed by lunch by the sea and then the afternoon off.
The planned brick run is lumpy, because, well, it's all lumpy around here......... then it's up to you if you want to add another brick run.
There's a daily stretch and mobility session which will help keep you riding tough terrain day after day and a couple of core strength sessions during the week.
We are just 15m west of Siena and the cycling is on beautiful, quiet, and challenging rolling hills, with amazing scenery and coffee/lunch stops in hilltop medieval villages - this is real Tuscany.
